I got married and moved to the shoreline Bought ourselves a house, had ourselves a good time Wasn't what I thought when it came down to it Lost that love and the money we blew it So back to the city I go What's gonna happen to me, I don't know what's in store Loneliness will take you in That's just because she's a two~bit whore Least life's not a bore Least life's not a bore

Lift Me Up 04:46
I never thought I'd live to see the day But a storm came and swept me away Seasons of love, wash over me This time let it be Alone and free Lift me up Our's was a passing glance we hoped would stay Counting our tomorrows without living the day Seasons of life, don't pass me by 'Neath the opening sky I still must try Lift me up Lift me up Lift me up Something I need to find Memories of your face in the city lights And when they grow dark, still shining bright Seasons of time, carry me through I don't know what is true Beyond me, beyond you Lift me up Lift me up Lift me up Lift me up There's something I need to find Something I need to find Something I need to find Something I need to find

Winter Bare 03:50
Could count all the bones in your face, hold them there A symmetry sown into place, keep it there Ooh~oooh, keep it there, ooh~oooh The flowers you wore in your dress, I keep 'em dear The picture you left on my desk, keep it near Ooh~oooh, keep it dear If only half the distance separated you from me Still this feeling forms a lock, it's got its gears in me Baby you're the key Soon snow will cover woods and fields and hills, the winter bare I dream you in a covering of quilts, will you be there Ooh~oooh, will you be there I'm not half the man I always thought I's supposed to be Still this feeling forms a lock, it's got its gears in me Baby you're the key

One more cigarette and I’ll walk out of here There ain’t nothing else seemed quite so clear I’ve held nothing back, I’ve said that I forgive But I can’t pretend that love’s not the sweetest salt in the wound that the heart gives And it’s only a heart keeps on beating And it’s only my blood keeps on repeating We make our choices and we live with what we choose That’s why I choose you A willing suffragette, I’m sure I’ll forget her name But she’s been with me here since this early year and honey I still feel the same I know you’ve had your men, we’re both animals Between the empty knees of a lover’s squeeze we both know how to fake we’re full And it’s only a heart keeps on beating And it’s only my blood keeps on repeating We make our choices and we live with what we choose That’s why I choose you Let them say we’re far from innocent or dreaming Let them claim that we’re the fools So come with me tonight, I’ll take you far from here Where the dark can’t tell apart the space between where our lips will disappear Who knows where loving ends, who knows if we will fall But I wasted too much time on these fears of mine not gamble for it all And it’s only a heart keeps on beating And it’s only my blood keeps on repeating We make our choices and we live with what we choose That’s why I choose you That’s why I choose you I choose you

Coming back home babe and I see you Coming back home babe and I see you Coming back home the way I always dreamed With my pockets all empty and my head all full of seems Coming back home, babe I’m gonna make you sing Coming back home baby when the time is right Coming back home babe this very night Coming back home by the light of the full moon You’re gonna find me in the darkness of your bed real soon Singing in your ear this very tune Coming back home gonna make it up you’ll see And in that dream there’s only you and me Sun rising slow across the hills We’ll leave old man trouble just to pay our bills ‘Cause tonight I’m gonna drink from you my fill Coming back home babe and I see you Coming back home babe and I see you Coming back home the way I always dreamed With my pockets all empty and my head all full of seems Coming back home, babe you’re my everything

Red tailed hawk in the city canyon Why so far from home? Red tailed hawk in the city canyon Won’t you take me with you where you go Where you go Always been a dreamer I’m not everyone’s description of a man Tired of being a savoir I’m trying to be my own description of a man Red tailed hawk in the city canyon Floating on a city breeze Red tailed hawk in the city canyon Won’t you take me with you when you leave White-winged and free That winter I went crazy Frost and ice shivered the ground And I thought that it would claim me When there was no one but myself to be found So red tailed hawk in the city canyon Floating on a city breeze Red tailed hawk in the city canyon Won’t you teach me what it means to be White-winged and free

Counting 03:34
How many stars in the night sky? How many moons? How many seasons make a room? How many tears in the ocean? How many lies? How many reasons for each disguise? If all you see is just dust on the loom Planets turn and the dawn is coming soon, coming soon How many thoughts to be counted? With how many words? How many promises broken, Hurt back to hurt? How many miles have we travelled? How many more? How many promises broken, Strewn across the floor? If all you see in each dark grain of sand Empty space formed by no human hand No human hand

about

Jeremy Bass's 2014 debut album Tenant was hailed as "truly poetic and unique...cuts to the bone" (The Rock Office) and "simply superb...elegant, deep and seemingly endless" (RUST Magazine). Bass follows this debut with two EPs, each funded by his fans through Kickstarter: Winter Bare (April 2015) and New York in Spring (June 2015).

Winter Bare is a collection of love songs in the alt-country tradition, combining the lush vocals and textures of bands such as Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver with the hard-edged soulfulness that characterizes Bass's earlier music. Mixed at the renowned WaveLab Studio in Tuscon, AZ (Neko Case, KT Tunstall, Amos Lee), Winter Bare features members of Iron and Wine, Calexico, and Zappa Plays Zappa.
